Bangkok-based DJ and producer BYAS has released an Afro House remix of Tame Impala’s “The Less I Know the Better”.
The new version keeps Kevin Parker’s vocal at the centre and moves the track to about 123 BPM, adding rolling percussion and a heavier house groove. It lands in the crossover space between indie electronic music and the melodic side of Afro House.
That makes it a natural fit for listeners moving between Tame Impala and RÜFÜS DU SOL, or DJs whose sets include Black Coffee, Keinemusik and Francis Mercier. BYAS keeps the song recognisable rather than reducing it to one sampled hook.
Two versions are available. The 3:07 radio edit is on SoundCloud, with a lyric video on YouTube. A 4:29 extended mix adds roughly 30 seconds of drums for DJs and can be downloaded as a free 24-bit WAV.
The remix is not on Spotify.
BYAS, the artist name of Belgian producer Yasin Borry, is based in Thailand. His music and DJ sets move through deep, melodic and Afro House, with appearances at clubs, rooftops and open-air parties.
